Launch of the Info Agro-Outaouais newsletter

Through its concertation and coordination mandates in the regional biofood sector, the Table agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais (TAO) is officially launching the newsletter Info Agro-Outaouais which will gather news, information, events and trainings offered by the different regional partners of the sector. This newsletter is aimed at you, the regional biofood businesses, and it aims at regrouping in a single place all the content that appeals to you or is likely to interest you.

Four editions will be published each year, one per season. Here is the schedule of publications:

Spring Edition – Wednesday, April 24, 2019
Summer Edition – Wednesday, July 24, 2019
Fall Edition – Wednesday, October 23, 2019

Coming into force of Safe Food for Canadians Regulations

Were you ready for the coming into force on January 15th of the new Safe Food for Canadians Regulation? This regulation aims at increasing the safety of Canada's food system by emphasizing prevention and precipitating the removal of unhealthy food from the marketplace. How are you doing?

The 29th National Suicide Prevention Week ran from February 3rd to 9th. Its slogan, "Talking about suicide saves lives," aimed at getting the subject out of the taboo zone.

In Quebec, the suicide rate is twice as high among men who work in agriculture than among those in the general population(2). For the Fédération de l’UPA Outaouais-Laurentides, it is important to ask the producers: How are you doing?

Elaboration of the 2019-2024 biofood development plan for the Outaouais

Through its mandate of managing and developing the regional biofood strategic planning for the Outaouais and the resulting action plan, the Table agroalimentaire de l'Outaouais (TAO) is launching these days the elaboration of the 2019-2024 Biofood Development Plan for the Outaouais. It will take in account the results of the 2013-2018 Agrifood Strategic Planning for the Outaouais. The main goal is to renew it and adapt it to the present concerns and realities of the sector.

Study of the Outaouais Farmers’ Markets situation

The TAO, with the support of the ministère des Affaires Municipales et de l’Habitation du Québec (MAMH), in collaboration with the Outaouais Farmers’ Markets, has begun a study of the Outaouais Farmers’ Markets situation. The objective of this study is to develop a concerted action plan to structure the development of regional Farmers’ Markets.

To do so, we need the comments and testimonies of a maximum of businesses (producers and/or processors) on the matter of these markets.
